Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat Predicted to Top 2008 MMFF

The first Tanging Ina movie was a certified blockbuster that broke all box-office records, installing Ai-Ai de las Alas as Box-Office Queen five years ago.

What happened to everybodys "ina" since then?

"The concept of this Tanging Ina movie actually began taking shape five years ago," said direk Wenn. "There was a demand for a sequel. Many people were wondering and asking whatever happened to ina after all that she has been through, single-handedly raising a dozen kids by different men."

Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat is predicted to top the 2008 Metro Filmfest and a shoo-in for awards.

Except fort Heart Evangelista, the latest addition to the Tanging Ina franchise retains the original cast including Carlo Aquino, Alwyn Uytingco (the bading member of the family), Shaina Magdayao, Serena Dalrymple, Jiro Manio, Yuki Kadaoka, and Bianca and Janelle Calma.

"So what happened to ina and her children after all these years?," added direk Wenn. "Some of her children have gone abroad, some are leading stable lives, all of them are successful."

Left almost alone, ina thinks of a way that will make her children even more proud of her. Because her children dont need her anymore, ina embarks on a journey once again that leads her to, hold your breath, Malacaang Palace as Ina ng Bayan, proving to one and all that she can be a beloved president just as she is as a mother.

But in the long run, ina is faced with a dilemma: To continue being ina to millions of Filipinos or to simply be the ina of her own children?

Said Ai-Ai (who also starred in one ina movie in-between, Cute ng Ina Mo which was also a hit), "The movie is for every member of the family para sa mga tatay, sa mga nanay, sa mga anak, sa mga kamag-anak, sa lahat! Doing it is even harder than doing the first one or the one in-between. What inspired me, direk Wenn and other members of the cast is the thought na lalabas ang lahat sa sinehan na may mga ngiti sa labi at tuwang-tuwa."

Opening on Dec. 25, Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat also stars Eugene Domingo still as Rowena, the looney best friend of ina. The new members of the cast are DJ Durano, John Prats and Gloria Diaz as Pres. Hilarry.

"My Only U" Hits P11 Million on Opening Day

A young woman dying of a rare disease and a young landlord try to beat the odds by living life to the fullest and making the most of their time together here on earth.

Starring Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga, My Only U injects humor and love in what is otherwise a topic that many refuse to talk about: death. Winona (Toni) comes from a family whose members often pass away before reaching the age of 25. Her neighbor Bong (Vhong), who happens to manage the compound where she lives, is secretly in love with her but he couldn't find the courage to propose to her.

Just like in the 1972 hit romance-drama Love Story (starring Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw), Bong is confronted with the same dilemma: What would you do if the girl you love has only a few days to live? How much is he willing to love knowing that he will just lose her before long?

The latest 15th anniversary offering of Star Cinema, My Only U, will have its regular screening in Guam until November 20 at the Micronesia Mall. Last October 29, My Only U opened in Philippine cinemas nationwide and reached box-office sales amounting to P11 million, according to Star Cinema.

This romantic comedy is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, the same person who helmed the blockbuster hit A Very Special Love starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz.

Because this is the story about someone who is leaving at makikita n'yo naman ang mangyayari kung mamamatay siya o hindi."

Vhong points out, "Si Toni kasi, mamamatay e, may sakit siya. Yung character ko gagawin ang lahat para sa kontiong sandali para mabigay mo lahat na di pa niya nagagawa kasi konti na lang ang buhay niya, maiksi na lang ang buhay niya. Sa sobrang mahal mo sya, lahat gagawin mo para sa kanya. Di baleng mapabayaan mo trabaho mo, mga kaibigan mo basta para sa kanya gagawin mo lahat kaya 'my only u.'

Aside from Toni and Vhong, My Only also stars Dennis Padilla (as the blind father of Winona), Janus del Prado, Empoy Marquez, Arlene Muhlach, Kitkat, and Benjie Paras (as the persistent ghost who aims to cross over to the other side by completing his earthly duties).

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus housemate Beauty Gonzalez and comedienne Vangie Labalan are also part of this romantic comedy.

According to a tabloid, one of Becky Aguila's (Angel's manager) former handler Mel Pulmano, who according to news stole money from Becky's talent Jennylyn Mercado, will reveal secrets of manager's talents including Angel Locsin who committed abortion.

"Sige, samahan ko pa siya. Siguraduhin lang niyang tama yung sasabihin niya kung ayaw niang makasuhan.

"Yung nagpa-abort na yan, ano ba yan? Siguro ang dami kong time na lumipad ako tapos may fight scenes, sumisid, tapos nangabayo. Naaano lang kasi ako na bumabalik na naman yung issue, eh. Pero sana wag nalang bastusan. Kasi pagkababae ko na po yung pinag-uusapan. Ibang usapan na po yun. Handa po akong lumaban." strongly said by Angel.
