1st WAKI OPM Music Awards - Winners

101.9 For Life, the FM radio station of ABS-CBN, unveiled the winners for the 1st WAKI OPM Music Awards Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.

Here are the winners:

ALBUM OF THE YEAR:
Journey by Yeng Constantino - 67%

MALE VOCALIST OF 2008:
Bugoy Drilon - 41.97%
(Bugoy bested Martin Nievera, Piolo Pascual and Rico Blanco)

FEMALE VOCALIST OF 2008:
Sarah Geronimo - 47.33%
(Sarah bested Yeng Constantino, Aiza Seguerra, Laarni Lozada and KC Concepcion)

BAND OF THE YEAR:
Itchyworms - 50.04%

BREAKOUT STAR OF 2008:
Bea Alonzo - 53.36%

SENTI HIT AWARD:
Paano na Kaya? (Bugoy Drilon) - 30.79%

DANCE CRAZE OF THE YEAR:
Sumayaw Ka (Gloc 9) - 50.91%

BEST COLLABORATION OF 2008:
Project 1�s 'Ang Sarap Dito' - 52.4%

NOVELTY SONG OF THE YEAR:
Giling-Giling (Willie Revillame) - 62.74%

LISTENERS� CHOICE FOR FAVORITE MALE ARTIST:
Erik Santos - 44.89%

LISTENERS� CHOICE FOR FAVORITE FEMALE ARTIST:
Bea Alonzo - 25.37%

SONG OF THE YEAR:
Betamax (Sandwich) - 40.39%

KANTAMERCIAL OF 2008:
Sarap Dito (Project1 for Coca Cola) - 60%

The difference with WAKI OPM Music Awards from Myx Music Awards and other music award-giving bodies is that only 100% Pinoy creations were eligible to compete meaning revivals and tagalized versions and the likes were disqualified.

It�s also interesting to note that no GMA (kapuso) artist was even nominated in the WAKI OPM Awards.
